stuck in her daydream, been this way since eighteen..

so today, i embarked on an all-too farmliar road trip, & as my darling Ed Sheeran serenaded me with sweet honey-lullabies, i couldn’t help but get lost in a sea of thought. the car windows were foggy, but my mind was even foggier; & whatever’s been bothering me recently, only became much stronger & more cunning. whatever he is, he’s been amplifying himself from my mind, down past my heart & into my toes. he’s been festering. like an itch i can’t scatch, a pain that never goes away, a fire that never burns out…he’s relentless. but i feel like he may be trying to tell me something. i feel as though he’s growing me a garden of insight or maybe a bed of grandeur epiphanies. they grow quickly, yet they do not grow quickly enough. i’m not even sure that the most accurate map could ever show me this creature’s plan.

sigh.

i do love road trips though. they’re calming, almost like a form of therapy, you know? i love the contrasting essence of nature. how you can pass a towering forest that, to our world, seems so tiny and obscure, & yet beneath that thick canopy of green, lies a whole other world. a world of peace and magic and wonderous life-cycles. a world where the greatest gift is life. i love the brilliance in nature. i love watching the world go by as the sky stands still. but most of all, i love viewing the world with a soundtrack. every song unearths a memory. every lyric tells a story. it’s so much more wonderful to live life with a playlist by your side.
